Queensland based Kiwi racing driver Craig Baird (United Video
Falcon) has won the 2009 / 2010 BNT V8s Championship at the final round
held at Taupo Motorsport Park today.
The highly experienced and crowd pleasing driver notched up 3rd, 4th and 1st placings respectively in the three races held in what was his first BNT V8s crown in his second season of the category.
Nelson driver John McIntyre (Prime Explosives Falcon) finished the season 2nd overall with two race wins and a 6th while Hamilton’s Kayne Scott (Fujitsu Heat Pumps Falcon) took 3rd place with two 2nd places and a 4th. McIntyre won the final round outright followed by Baird and Scott.
Speaking about the win, Baird said “It’s been tough racing all season so it is great to come away with two championships added to the tally. I have enjoyed every meeting as there has been some really good racing which shows the promoters have got the V8s formula about right.”
Although the 2009 / 2010 BNT V8s Championship is concluded the drivers and teams will still contest a special Trophy Round as support to the V8 Supercars at the ITM 400 in Hamilton on April 16th to 18th.
