Success for Edgell at Round 5 BNT V8s

This weekend Edgell was the man to beat. After qualifying fastest on Saturday he led all the way in Sunday mornings opening contest over 12 laps, crossing the line to win by almost 3 seconds from defending champion Kayne Scott of Hamilton. It was a victory achieved in style with the fastest lap of the race also being credited to Edgell. "The car was really good," said an elated Edgell after the race. "I drove well within myself and the Chesters Falcon was handling great!"

Edgells successes left him last on the grid for the reverse grid finale but he was quickly on the case, moving through the field and into the top ten before half distance. He made his way through to 8th place at the finish despite the fact that inside the car he was battling a gearbox that was jumping out of gear plus a slow puncture. "The car was pretty average early on and it became terrible! The left rear tyre had a slow leak. There was just 11lb pressure at the end."

Edgells results gave him 181 points for the round, just three less than the round winner, the ultra-experienced Baird. It was Tims second podium in consecutive rounds of the championship.

"It was a good weekend," said Tim as he relaxed after the post-event media conference. "We're third in the championship, sixteen points off second place - it ain't over yet!"

The final round of the championship takes place at the Taupo Motorsport Park over the weekend 20/21 March.
